Green Oak Bridge

Project Description.

We were invited to propose a bridge design, harnessing traditional skills to create a stunning, contemporary show piece set amongst beautiful natural surroundings.

The project was for a private garden, which opens to the public over several dates each year.

Planning.

No planning planning issues were faced for this project.

Architecture

Working closely with a traditional green oak master craftsman (Jeremy Cosmo Davies), together we came up with the best architectural design for our client.

Using natural green oak and traditional ship lap techniques we generated a stunning bowed, raked and offset arch of leaping timber form, which spanned the small garden brook.

Showing off how the best traditional craftsmanship can embrace the highest modern aesthetics, while finding itself, as if by surprise, entirely in it's element within the natural world.
