New Leaf Restaurant, Ealing

Planning.

Local planning officers and elected representatives were concerned about a new Chinese restaurant on their high street.

However by working closely with them throughout the planning permission process, we were able to demonstrate our design was something quite different to what they had in mind. Far more refined, far more elegant. Eventually they let us proceed through planning to create what has become one of the longest running, continuously in use Restaurants open in Ealing today. A testament to good investment in excellent, sensitive, human experience focused, environmental design.

Architecture

As the New Leaf restaurant architects, we focused on the sensation of the restaurant as an inviting and special location on Ealing high street. Using a limited budget with care we added highly crafted, specially designed touches in an ensemble of warm timbers, glass and sculpted metal.

We avoided cliche by re-interpreting classic Chinese architectural forms, creating a poetic, modern and refined facade. Beneath the crafted portico, touched with colour, the guest grasps the unique, architect designed, door handle of sculpted metal, to enter an interior warmed by generous timber beams which accentuate the length of the space while absorbing excess sound.

Warm light scatters cosily across the raftered cieling and dapples through the joinery flower baskets. Our guests relax our into their evening meal.
